How to Try Out:
Requirements:
1. You must be 14 years of age or older. If younger than 18, you must be
accompanied by a parent or guardian.
2. You must be an experienced rider. Drill is a dangerous
environment. You must be able to think, react and ride - all
while controlling your horse. This is for your safety and ours.
3. You will supply your own horse. Your horse needs to be physically
able to handle the tough demands of drill. Rodeos and
competitions are hot, the arena can be muddy, and practices are long.
Your horse must be up to date on all immunizations and have proper
hoof care.
4. You need to supply your own horse trailer. When traveling we try to
trailer together as much as possible to save gas, however for practice
you need to be able to provide your own transportation. Our weekly
practices are held at the Tacoma Unit #1 Horse Arena in Spanaway,
WA.
5. Horses only. No ponies or mules. Although we prefer stock-type
horses, we do accept any breed. Any color.
6. Horses must wear protective leg wraps at practices. The drills we do
put alot of stress on the horses.
7. You must be able to do the following manuevers on
horseback:
- All gaits (walk, trot, lope, run)
- Stop and turn quickly
- Rollbacks
- Carry a flag
- Correct leads w/lead changes
- Horse must neckrein
- Correct western equitation
